DIY Woodworking Channel

Sunday, May 14th, 2006

The DIY Woodworking Channel is a vertical application for diynetwork.com. It is a great example for using Flash and Windows Media together. While I prefer to use Flash Video, it is sometimes necessary to use Windows Media to fulfill the goals of the business. Aside from the extra time to develop workarounds with Windows Media, Flash Video could have provided a better viewing experience for a wider range of users. All technical negatives aside, THE CONTENT IS GREAT! I actually wanted to become a woodworker while developing this application. You can view the Woodworking Channel here.

Sherwin Williams Paint Visualizer on Food Network

Sunday, March 26th, 2006

This application was designed to display a small sample of colors available from Sherwin Williams. The images were supplied by the client but became very hard to customize. The images were then rebuilt as 3D renderings with all customizable objects colored at runtime. The end result became a fun interactive application that not only advertised Sherwin Williams colors but acted as a functioning application for users interested in painting their house.

Page Turner

Sunday, March 26th, 2006

While attending Flash Forward San Francisco in 2004 I had the opportunity to see Erik Natzke give an amazing presentation on his latest work. One of his projects incuded a Page Turner for Dreamworks. I was very inspired by this piece and interested in finding the perfect project for this interactive treatment. A few months after the conference I was given the chance to give this interaction a try. My version of the Page Turner was built from scratch with many hours of trial and error. I would do this completely defferent now, but am still proud of my persistance in completing this project.

Erik, thanks for all the great inspirational projects you’ve created.

HGTV 2006 Rose Parade Video Puzzles

Sunday, March 26th, 2006

The main goal of this project was to increase HGTV.com’s Flash Player 8 penetration by offering the user a reward for downloading the latest player. The reward in this case is a Video Puzzle experience that is very difficult without the new Flash Player 8 Bitmap Class. One month after these puzzles were launched, HGTV had doubled their Flash Player 8 penetration from 15% to 30%.
